Inside Our Equine Rehab Center: What to Expect from an In-House Stay
Imagine a peaceful, well-equipped facility where your horse’s comfort and recovery are the top priority. At Thrive Equine Physio, we will soon offer in-house rehabilitation at our clinic in Strathalbyn, complete with a range of accommodation options—stables, yards, and paddocks—to suit each horse’s unique needs.
Personalised Rehab Programs by an Equine Physiotherapist
Every rehabilitation program is designed and delivered by an equine physiotherapist who tailors each session to your horse’s individual recovery goals. From hands-on physiotherapy to day-to-day progress checks, we apply evidence-based treatments to promote optimal healing and long-term soundness.
Collaborative Care with a Multi-Disciplinary Team
At Thrive Equine Physio, we know that successful rehabilitation requires a team effort. That’s why we collaborate with your horse’s multi-disciplinary team, including vets, farriers, and saddle fitters, to deliver a truly comprehensive approach to care. By combining insights from each professional, we ensure that your horse’s medical, structural, and biomechanical needs are addressed. This collaborative care model allows us to target the root causes of issues, creating a cohesive and personalised plan for your horse’s recovery and long-term success.

Our Facilities & Equipment
Arena & Round Yard: Our recently renovated 60m x 40m all-weather arena and round yard provide controlled spaces for therapeutic exercises and gait assessment.
Fitness Track with Hills: This track allows for graded exercise, essential for building strength and stamina in recovering horses.
Rehabilitation Equipment: We use a variety of equipment and surface types to optimise injury recovery, with all programs tailored to your hores’s needs.
Optional Extra: Water Treadmill Sessions
We’re excited to offer water treadmill sessions as an add-on option to your horse’s in-house rehab program. We float your horse to the water treadmill facility just five minutes down the road (opening in February 2025). This low-impact form of exercise can be particularly helpful for building or maintaining muscle tone, improving cardiovascular fitness, and minimising strain on joints and tendons.
Day-to-Day Care & Oversight
Morning Exercise: After an initial check, your horse will complete their rehab/exercise program —whether gentle ground exercises, arena work, or hill-based conditioning on our fitness track.
Afternoon Treatments: Our equine physiotherapist carries out hands-on treatments, targeting any problem areas and monitoring progress as the day unfolds.
Hand Walking & Grazing: Between sessions, your horse benefits from hand walking and grazing throughout the day, ensuring relaxation, mental stimulation, and steady movement.
Evening Observations: As the day winds down, we ensure your horse is comfortable, well-fed, and monitored overnight for any changes.
Why Choose an In-House Stay?
24/7 Professional Attention: Round-the-clock oversight means any issues are addressed immediately, preventing minor setbacks from becoming major complications.
Tailored Environment: Our stables, yards, and paddocks cater to your horse’s individual preferences, minimising stress and promoting relaxation.
Streamlined Recovery: By combining specialised equipment, professional guidance, and a quiet setting, your horse’s rehabilitation journey can be faster and more effective.
